Ben couldn't have asked for a better day to wait for his fair-maiden to walk down the aisle to become his queen! They were married in her childhood church amongst their dynasty of family and friends. After the ceremony, we made our way to Nolde Forest, for some amazing portraits, on our journey to Stokesay Castle to celebrate their enchanted evening.
Katie looked every part of the queen-in-waiting, in her stunning simple satin gown, which fit her like a glove; her gorgeous, side-swept, beautiful red hair.... I could go on & on... But how about you just look for yourself!
Congratulations Katie & Ben! Best wishes for an amazing future together as Mr & Mrs!!
How did you two meet, and how long have you been together?
Ben and I met on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel.
The first time we met each other was at Pin’s bar/arcade in Columbus, OH. Unbeknownst to me, several of Ben’s friends were spying on us the first time we met. I however put my big girl pants on and went on this date alone. Because Ben was trying not to look at his friends from across the bar, he made excellent eye contact with me which is what I preceded to tell my roommate when she asked how the date went. Ben counts this as our “meet and greet,” not our official first date due to his entourage.
We both quickly fell in love with each other discussing our favorite topics: sunscreen, comparing freckles, and whose skin would glow in the dark more.
In all seriousness, Ben inspires me to be a better person. He is kind and compassionate towards every person he encounters. He makes me laugh so hard I snort. He is my person. ~ Katie
How did he pop the question?
Ben had asked me a week prior to the proposal if we could have a “date day” the following Saturday. He made reservations at the restaurant where we had our first date, Marcella’s in Columbus. We got all dressed up and went to a candle lab before hand to make candles while we waited for our reservation. When we got to Marcella’s, Ben did valet parking (which we never do). I definitely thought that it was going to happen this night, I just didn’t know when.
After our delicious dinner and bottle of wine, we left to go get our car. The valet guy came running up and said “there is a Mazda 3 in the garage and I can’t get it to start.” This was my car. Ben and I walked to the parking garage with two of the valet guys. Here the valet guy accidentally left my car lights on which caused the battery to die. The other valet guy got his car and brought it over to jump mine. Ben started getting very stressed, which is very out of character for him. I tell him it’s not a big deal, there isn’t really anywhere we have to be.
The valet guy finally gets our car jumped and we head back to Ben’a place. When we got off the elevator at Ben’s, he started walking very quickly to his apartment. I walked in a minute after him and immediately was drawn to the most beautiful bouquet of flowers. I then turned around and Ben was down on one knee and said “Kathryn Joan will you marry me?” I asked “are you serious?” He said “yes!” I looked at the ring and said “it’s so big!” His response was “that’s what she said.” And then I said “yes!” and preceded to jump around. We called our parents to tell them the exciting news and then went out to a bar where a group of friends had been waiting for us to celebrate.
I definitely thought that it was going to happen this night, I just didn't know when. ~ Katie
Did you see each other before the wedding?
We did not see each other before the wedding ceremony.
I am very happy that we waited. My favorite part of every wedding is watching the groom’s face when the bride walks down the aisle.
