Daylin and Ian have known each other since sixth grade! But one dreaded day in seventh grade they were forced to sit next to each other in Algebra class. Daylin was so mad, because her friends were all next to each other on the other side of the room, and here she was stuck next to this kid who never says a word! Or so she thought...
Over the next few months, they were hanging out on weekends and sitting next to each other in other classes. Then one Saturday night in November, their seventh grade love "bloomed". They then found themselves tackling high school together... going to football games, parties, and Ian coming to Daylin's house every morning to wake her up because "she never heard her alarm". LOL. They were best friends!
They eventually went off to college... together! Supporting and helping each other through everything... all night study sessions, losing loved ones, and finding themselves. It was then that the two decided they couldn't fathom life without each other!
Fast forward a few years, to their 11th anniversary... Ian planned a trip to NYC for New Year's Eve. Nothing out of the ordinary, they went to the city every year for the holidays. During dinner, Ian looks at Daylin and says, "I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with you when we were 16. You are my best friend. I love your family. I love that you love mine. And I just want you to know how loved you are." She could have sworn he was going to drop to one knee right there, but, instead they grabbed some ice cream and went back to their room.
The next day, they were heading to dinner before the NYE party. Walking, in the rain, to the restaurant, they decided to walk through Central Park. They headed to Gapstow Bridge, and were watching, and imitating, the ducks, in true Daylin and Ian fashion. The rain had begun to pick up, so Daylin wanted to get going. But Ian said, "Wait, not yet. We have to wait one more minute." They stood there for a moment and then Ian had finally turned to Daylin and said "You know I want to spend the rest of my life with you right?" She laughed and said, "You aren't planning on proposing to me right now are you?" In typical Ian fashion he quickly responded, "Yes I am but not right now, there are too many people standing here." Knowing that his anxiety was through the roof, Daylin had suggested going to the side of the pond away from the crowds where the ducks were. Ian agreed, grabbed Daylin's hand and lead the way to the rocks next to the bridge. With the tears already in full force she looked at him and he told her how much he loved her and got down on one knee (as best as he could in the rain). Without hesitation, she said yes! The moment could not have been more perfect, more them.
Daylin and Ian absolutely LOVE New Year's Eve, so it was a no-brainer that their wedding was going to be NYE! And with a Gatsby theme... I mean, hellooo... their dog's name is Gatsby!! Daylin so wanted this elegant, Gatsby inspired theme, with tons of black and gold details throughout. She added some flare to the tables with gold name plates on each setting, gold charger plates, and gold foiled thank you cards for their guests. The florist added gold details into the flowers as well! They even had a cigar and cigarette bar with old school cigarette holders, matches, and blankets. Which was a huge hit since Bear Creek has a heated patio outside! Each child in attendance was given an adorable little box at their place setting full of different activities to keep them occupied! Finally, Daylin and Ian had to find a way to incorporate their adorable pup. Their specialty drink sign featured their favorite pup in the whole wide world, Gatsby. She is their favorite part of their little family and knew they had to incorporate her in some way.
I am so happy to have been a part of Daylin & Ian's special day! They are a couple of the best humans I have had the pleasure of meeting, and I am so excited for them and their future! Congratulations Daylin & Ian Valentino!
